Article Types

The journal accepts the following types of contributions, defined by the journal's editorial structure.

Editorial

Editorials set out the journal's position on topics of current interest, written or commissioned by the Editor-in-Chief or a member of the editorial team.

Research Articles

Original research articles presenting new scholarly work on artificial intelligence, ethics, wisdom traditions, and their intersection with society.

Review Article

Critical surveys and syntheses of existing research that advance understanding of a topic.

Conceptual / Theoretical Article

Conceptual or theoretical contributions that develop new frameworks, arguments, or interpretations.

Perspective

Informed viewpoints on emerging questions, debates, or policy implications within the journal's scope.

Prepare your manuscript to the journal's published standards before you submit.

Formatting requirements

  • Manuscripts must be submitted as a single Microsoft Word `.docx` file.
  • Complete author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers where available, and corresponding author information during the online submission process. Do not include identifying information in the anonymous manuscript.
  • Use Times New Roman, 12 pt, with 1.5 line spacing and 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
  • Number all pages consecutively.
  • Use clear and consistent heading levels throughout the manuscript.
  • Tables must be editable and placed close to their first mention in the manuscript.
  • Figures must be clear, legible, and suitable for publication.
  • References must follow APA 7th Edition and include DOI links where available.

Manuscript Structure

Organise your manuscript using the standard structure described below.

  1. Title : A concise and descriptive title, preferably within 15 to 18 words. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations and acronyms.
  2. Abstract : Provide an abstract of 200 to 300 words outlining the background, purpose, methods where applicable, key findings or arguments, and main conclusions.
  3. Keywords : Provide three to six keywords that reflect the main topics of the article.
  4. Main text : Organise the manuscript using a structure appropriate to the article type and discipline. Research articles would normally include an introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion where applicable.
  5. References : Provide a complete reference list in APA 7th Edition. Include DOI links where available.

Peer Review

AI and Wisdom uses single anonymous peer review. Reviewers know the identities of the authors, while authors do not know the identities of reviewers. Submissions first undergo editorial assessment. Manuscripts considered suitable for the journal may then proceed to external peer review. Final publication decisions remain the responsibility of the journal's editors.

Open Access & Fees

AI and Wisdom is open access under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Submission Fee: None. Article Processing Charge (APC): None.

Required Declarations

Include the following statements where applicable.

  • Funding Statement: name any funding sources and grant numbers.
  • Conflict of Interest Statement: disclose any relevant interests, or state that none exist.
  • Data Availability Statement: describe where supporting data and materials are available.
  • Generative AI Disclosure: Disclose any material use of generative AI beyond routine language assistance.
  • Ethics Statement: Research involving human participants, personal data, animals, or other regulated research should provide appropriate ethics approval and consent information where applicable.

File Requirements

The journal accepts the following file formats. Files exceeding the size limits will be rejected by the submission system.

  • Manuscript: Microsoft Word `.docx` only. Maximum file size: 50 MB.
  • Figures: PNG or JPEG. Maximum file size: 10 MB per file.
  • Supplementary files: ZIP, XLSX, CSV, or PDF. Maximum total size: 100 MB.

Figures and Tables

Prepare artwork and tables to publication standards.

  • Number tables and figures consecutively in the order in which they are mentioned.
  • Provide a clear title or caption for every table and figure.
  • Tables must remain editable.
  • Figures should contain readable labels and sufficient resolution for publication.
  • Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material.

Language

Manuscripts must be submitted in clear academic English. Authors may use either British or American English, but usage must remain consistent throughout the manuscript.

    Add the title, abstract, authors, affiliations, and keywords.

    Upload Manuscript

    Upload the anonymous manuscript in Microsoft Word `.docx` format and add any supplementary files where applicable.

    Review and Confirm

    Check the submission summary, complete the copyright and consent statements, then submit.

    Editorial Processing

    Your submission enters editorial screening, peer review, revision, and production. You will receive email notifications at every step.
